Happy New Year & New Year Resolutions!
Happy New Year!!! We celebrated with sparklers and long exposure photography. The sparklers were too much fun to stop and head out to a party! That’s ok though, there’s always another party to go to. Don’t chill the good vibes because you’re too busy rushing off to the next thing. 2016 Year in Review Looking back on 2016, it’s actually been a pretty good year. I became a certified yoga teacher. Not only did I learn how to teach regular yoga, but also how to teach restorative and stand up paddle board yoga. Then I did a yoga mentorship program, which made me more confident in applying the skills learned…

Surfing Around Matagorda Beach
For anyone else who tires of being a spectator, here’s something surfy from Chris’s point of view surfing around Matagorda Beach. These were all taken using Chris’s GoPro on a beautiful, clean fall day on the beach with some beautiful waves. Standing on the beach taking pictures is fun for a while, but soon enough you have to test the waters. For me, the point of view of the video really underscores the amount of effort it takes to get in there and the singleminded purpose it takes. Waves are messy (just like life). It’s literally an uphill battle to get out there – all for a few seconds sliding…

Matagorda Surfing Day Trip
Last weekend we drove down to Matagorda surfing for the day. It was beautiful, as usual. In the morning an ominous fog blankets everything lately, but by the time the sun’s up there isn’t a cloud in sight. If it took me a little longer to edit these photos than usual, last week was just overwhelming with life happenings. I’ll spare the details, but I’m so glad it’s over. Wish this weekend could have lasted a little longer. OMW! Headed for the water. I just love the glittering blues and greens and textures of the water. It’s barely even wetsuit season! Chris hardly ever needs one anyway. He just paddles…

Spookiest Podcasts for Halloween
To help conjure up the spirit of Halloween this year, I’ve been playing the spookiest podcasts of the season. I listen to a lot of podcasts during my hour commute to and from work and these all make the trip so scary good. 5 Scariest Podcasts My Favorite Murder This is, hands down, my favorite podcast right now. Hosted by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark, My Favorite Murder is a conversational murder podcast. It’s actually classified as a comedy, and recently rose to the number one position on iTunes podcasts. Karen and Georgia each pick their favorite murder of the week and recount it, replete with erroneous facts from Wikipedia…

October Surfside
Is surfing season back yet? Things might be looking up for this October Surfside. When most people think of going to the beach, and even surfing, they usually imagine a balmy paradise. But as people who surf know, the best waves come in with the cooler temperatures. The warm summer doldrums yield mostly flat water, especially in the Gulf, and even more so this year. This past weekend marked the first time in weeks that it was worth going out on, and Surfside had some nice long gentle waves all day waiting for me to paddle out through. Since it’s still pretty early for fall, the water wasn’t cold enough…
