Board Shaping with Robert August
During our stay in Tamarindo, we had the opportunity to attend a board shaping demo with Robert August. You may have heard of him from the movie Endless Summer, which he and his friends filmed while surfing across the world. Robert August spends most of his days now in Tamarindo, in addition to traveling here and there. If you ever get the chance to meet him, he’s very friendly and a vivid storyteller. Robert grew up in California, and was lucky enough to have a dad who would make surfboards for him. So he was raised watching boards morph from heavy boat-like pieces of hardwood to the lightweight, finned and…

Best Sunscreens for Summer
As people who spend a lot of time outside in the sun know, you can never have enough good sunscreen. This list of the best sunscreens for summer is put together with a few guidelines in mind. When choosing the sunscreen that’s best for you, opt for the closest SPF to 50 that you can find. Any higher than 50 doesn’t give your skin additional protection. Tamarindo Sunsets
If you’ve ever visited Tamarindo, Costa Rica, you must have experienced the breathtaking view of the sun setting over the Pacific Ocean. Tamarindo sunsets have a flair for drama, washing everything with red and orange before quickly sinking on the horizon. In looking through my photos from our trip to Tamarindo, I do wish I had carried my camera or my phone around more. This always happens. When we’re in the moment, I just want to let life be and not have the constant need…

We’ve been home from Costa Rica for about a week now, and the water is finally starting to seep from my brain so I feel motivated to work again. My head has been so far in the clouds! Part of the reason why I haven’t finished any articles on my to-do list yet is that I know the first one needs to be about Witch’s Rock Surf Camp, where we stayed, and how do you fit a whole week into 500 words or less? Let’s try. Witch’s Rock Surf Camp Review Witch’s Rock Surf Camp is amazing. There’s plenty to love about the surf hotel and Tamarindo, but I’ll start…

OMW: Costa Rica Flight
It’s been a little quiet on the blog this week – I’m in Costa Rica! What a dream. I’ve been surfing every day and exploring the town in Tamarindo, so there’s plenty to share when I’m back in the states and make the time for it. We took a direct Costa Rica flight into Liberia last Friday, and then drove to Witch’s Rock Surf Camp. Southwest Airlines added flights to Costa Rica from Houston not too long ago, so it was only a few hours to travel. It’s faster and more affordable for us to fly here than to California. Can you believe it? Plus, the water is warmer and we…
