Teacups have no place at sea. Cardboard cups with sippy lids are easier to clean up after.
It’s officially August, and the dog days of summer are here. These are the hot sultry, lazy days. The beach landscape is filled with vibrant blue and bleached white everything from cloudless skies, but on most days the sunny lows make the wind and surf as listless as everything else. When an unexpected offshore wind popped up last weekend, we… View Post
Never change, stay the same. Lately we’ve been wistful to leave the beach at dusk. Chris is always the last one out of the water. It’s never really a good idea to stay in the water after dark. The water cools down and this is feeding time for sharks. Even though sharks aren’t likely to bite – they don’t like… View Post
I don’t go out in public without at least a little eye makeup on. I’m in a waterproof makeup-needing situation daily. Aside from the swampy Texas humidity and sweltering summers, I’m usually in an aerial gym, hot yoga studio or ocean at least once a day. Chris likes to take pictures at the end of a day of surfing. Having a… View Post
My latest favorite app is Touch Retouch. A lot of the time with iPhone photography, timing is everything. I snap pics when I don’t have my DSLR with me, but also when I don’t have enough time to grab it. When you’re trying to snag the moment, sometimes you just don’t have enough time to properly frame the photo or… View Post
The Gulf waves were beautiful again in Surfside. Chris says it’s not often that this late in July we get these big gentle rolling waves with just enough power to surf and time to bask in the sun at the third sandbar. I spent most of the day surfing, but caught Chris’s story on this wave. It was a day… View Post
You may have read this article about my avocado plant growing obsession. I’ve decided that I have enough avocados growing and need to give a slice of another fruit a try. Several of my friends have had success in growing pineapples in Houston. I love pineapple. Most mornings I start the day with a pineapple, mango, and greens smoothie. If… View Post
Here’s another day of photos of surfing. This makes four days in a row of surfing.
“We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. We must remember always that accusation is not proof and that conviction depends upon evidence and due process of law. We will not walk in fear, one of another. We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason, if we dig deep in our history and our doctrine, and remember… View Post
The angle that some of these were taken at makes Chris look like he is running on the water. Even though it was Fourth of July weekend, the day before the Fourth wasn’t too crowded at all. The beach was cleaner than most other weekends. The families were almost as good for people watching as the surfing.
