The angle that some of these were taken at makes Chris look like he is running on the water. Even though it was Fourth of July weekend, the day before the Fourth wasn’t too crowded at all. The beach was cleaner than most other weekends. The families were almost as good for people watching as the surfing.
To start off Fourth of July weekend, Chris and I headed down to Surfside to catch some 2-3 ft waves, which is the biggest they’ve been since Tropical Storm Bill, really. Lots of other surfers were out, and the beach wasn’t quite filled up with weekenders yet. It was really pretty peaceful. Chris was really flying on the waves. I… View Post
Green smoothies are the best way to start the week of right. A healthy breakfast at the beginning of the day just makes Mondays a little bit better. All you need is a trip to the grocery store and a blender. This is my go-to favorite green smoothie recipe, and it’s great for muscle recovery: Most Delicious Green Smoothie Recipe… View Post
The waves were small today, but the weather made up for it. Lots of longboarders came out, but there wasn’t much more than shorebreak. Early on and mid day Chris and I paddled out and caught some really fun waves together. Same wave <3. Such Party. Chris was walking all over his board, which I love because he puts his… View Post
My latest obsession is nail stamping. It’s not a big surprise, since in a sense nail stamping is a form of printmaking. There is an etched metal plate that you apply ink polish to, and transfer the print on to your nails. Here are all of the materials you will need in advance: a nail stamper, a card, an emery… View Post
I take a lot of photographs in my free time. Sometimes they look nice, and sometimes they are not so nice. Most of the time they are pretty mediocre. But if I spend a little time with my photographs, I can take a completely decent, average, boring photo and breathe a little life and interest into it through editing. My… View Post
This year Summerfest was moved to the NRG Stadium, home of the old Astrodome, because of historical flood levels near Eleanor Tinsley Park. Chris was working on one of the main stages, so I didn’t see him much. Good things about the new location: NRG Park is well equipped to handle large crowds coming and going. I didn’t have to… View Post

Here’s what International Surfing Day looked like. The waves were pretty small! I paddled out for a little bit, but it was more floating than catching the waves. Chris surfed the shore break for a while. I caught a few there. The waves break really fast, but if you stay on the back of the board it helps keep the… View Post
I have no words. Only longboard photos. This kiddo really wanted me to take a picture of her doing a backbend. Great backbend babe. These kiddos liked Chris’s longboarding as much as I do. But they don’t have an attention span. Beach nails.
