Float Fest 2016 Part 2
Day 2 of Float Fest in San Marcos! Chris and I went down pretty early to float the river before the sun climbed to high. But really, the river cools everything off anyway. Floating was so much fun! It’s been a few years since I floated the river, and never with Chris. Just toss your tube in, hop on and let the water carry you away. Thank goodness for that air conditioned tent though! We definitely spent some more time in the VIP tent after the river floating, although I would have gone for a float a second time. I did a lot more people watching today! San Marcos is…

Float Fest 2016 Part 1
Float Fest! We went to San Marcos for the music festival on July 16 & 17, and I’m only just now getting around to editing these photos! Float Fest is awesome. You hop in an inner tube, float down the river, and come out right at the entrance to the festival grounds where you can catch live music. This idea is seriously genius. It’s sooooo hot outside. The last thing you want to do in Texas in July is stand out in the heat. But the river cools you off so much, you’re surrounded by awesome people, and when the day cools off you can catch some live tunes. We stayed in…

Festival Style Guide
Festival season is here, along with the search for the cutest yet most practical outfits to get you through the day! Anything boho and free-spirited works for festival style: crochet, fringe, long hair, braids and sunglasses. It’s time to let your gypsy soul wander in the sun (and shade). It gets so hot in the summertime. So, anything that keeps the heat off your back is good. In Houston, we have the Free Press Summer Fest every year. We joke that the difference between the summer music festivals and the winter music festivals like Day for Night are the masses of people, and that’s kind of true. How do so many…

Free Press Summer Fest 2015
This year Summerfest was moved to the NRG Stadium, home of the old Astrodome, because of historical flood levels near Eleanor Tinsley Park. Chris was working on one of the main stages, so I didn’t see him much. Good things about the new location: NRG Park is well equipped to handle large crowds coming and going. I didn’t have to wait 2 hours to get out of the parking lot this year 🙂 More quickly able to move between the stages Bad things about the new location: The stages were all flat, so it was difficult to see the bands. At Eleanor Tinsley Park, the stages are mostly set up…

Summer Music Festival Wear
Every year around late May/early June we start getting ready for Houston’s biggest music festival, Free Press Summer Fest. We were all pretty relieved and excited when the FPSF ball started rolling a few years back. It grew from the previous WestFest, a Westheimer Street Festival that is fondly remembered for its heyday in the nineties. Festival fashion is fun, but it has to be functional. Know what to wear and bring when you are spending 12 hours baking in the humid sun between downpours. In style. Beyond the fashion, accessories make the festival. Don’t forget an umbrella. Rain or shine, it will come in handy. Bring a compact Point and Shoot with a…
