My latest favorite app is Touch Retouch. A lot of the time with iPhone photography, timing is everything. I snap pics when I don’t have my DSLR with me, but also when I don’t have enough time to grab it. When you’re trying to snag the moment, sometimes you just don’t have enough time to properly frame the photo or… View Post
The Gulf waves were beautiful again in Surfside. Chris says it’s not often that this late in July we get these big gentle rolling waves with just enough power to surf and time to bask in the sun at the third sandbar. I spent most of the day surfing, but caught Chris’s story on this wave. It was a day… View Post
You may have read this article about my avocado plant growing obsession. I’ve decided that I have enough avocados growing and need to give a slice of another fruit a try. Several of my friends have had success in growing pineapples in Houston. I love pineapple. Most mornings I start the day with a pineapple, mango, and greens smoothie. If… View Post
Here’s another day of photos of surfing. This makes four days in a row of surfing.
“We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. We must remember always that accusation is not proof and that conviction depends upon evidence and due process of law. The angle that some of these were taken at makes Chris look like he is running on the water. Even though it was Fourth of July weekend, the day before the Fourth wasn’t too crowded at all. The beach was cleaner than most other weekends. The families were almost as good for people watching as the surfing.
To start off Fourth of July weekend, Chris and I headed down to Surfside to catch some 2-3 ft waves, which is the biggest they’ve been since Tropical Storm Bill, really. Lots of other surfers were out, and the beach wasn’t quite filled up with weekenders yet. It was really pretty peaceful. Chris was really flying on the waves. I… View Post
Green smoothies are the best way to start the week of right. A healthy breakfast at the beginning of the day just makes Mondays a little bit better. All you need is a trip to the grocery store and a blender. This is my go-to favorite green smoothie recipe, and it’s great for muscle recovery: Most Delicious Green Smoothie Recipe… View Post
The waves were small today, but the weather made up for it. Lots of longboarders came out, but there wasn’t much more than shorebreak. Early on and mid day Chris and I paddled out and caught some really fun waves together. Same wave <3. Such Party. Chris was walking all over his board, which I love because he puts his… View Post
My latest obsession is nail stamping. It’s not a big surprise, since in a sense nail stamping is a form of printmaking. There is an etched metal plate that you apply ink polish to, and transfer the print on to your nails. Here are all of the materials you will need in advance: a nail stamper, a card, an emery… View Post
