    Snow Moon Penumbral Lunar Eclipse

Did you get a chance to catch the penumbral lunar eclipse last weekend? The February full moon is also known as the Snow Moon in Native American folklore, since it happens during the snowiest month of the year. The penumbral eclipse passed so quickly it was easy to miss! Texas is on Central Time, so we saw it at around 6:30pm Friday when I was just barely getting out of dance class. The Snow Moon lunar eclipse was particularly hard for me to catch because of the cloudiness of Houston skies. Chris caught this awesome pic while he was driving up from Port Lavaca though, capturing the red-tinted shadow moon…

That’s ok though, there’s always another party to go to. Don’t chill the good vibes because you’re too busy rushing off to the next thing. 2016 Year in Review Looking back on 2016, it’s actually been a pretty good year. I became a certified yoga teacher. Not only did I learn how to teach regular yoga, but also how to teach restorative and stand up paddle board yoga. Then I did a yoga mentorship program, which made me more confident in applying the skills learned…

    Christmas Surfside

Surfing on Christmas is becoming something of a tradition for Chris and me. As it should. At two years, we’re still a relatively new relationship navigating through both of our families’ Christmas timelines. It’s important to remember to take the time on Christmas to do something for ourselves. Last year we broke away to Surfside to try out the new paddleboard Chris bought me, and this year we snuck out to spend a bit of Christmas Surfside again before heading back in time for Christmas dinner at my mother’s house. Honestly, it seemed more like spring than winter out there! Not that I’m complaining. Last year I only went out…

    Surfing Galveston’s New Beach?

So… who knew surfing Galveston is looking up? I had no idea that they rebuilt the beach out south of 61st street. Along with the new shoreline comes a fun set of sandbars to learn. Last weekend there was a hurricane in Mexico, so we headed out for some beach time on Sunday. With the hurricane so far away, the waves were only about 2-3 feet, but they were 10-14 seconds long! Much power, much fun. It was a day of really gentle, long waves that you could stand up on forever. By the time I got around to taking pictures (after a ride and a nap), the waves had…
