Yoga Paleo Birthday Cake
Can you believe this amazing paleo birthday cake that my mother, sister, and niece made together for my birthday? How cool is this! I have never had a cake like this before in my life. Since I’m still eating healthy from the Whole 30 reset, I asked my mom to make a healthier birthday treat for our celebration. So she got together with my sister and her little daughter, and with the advice and guidance of the friends from her stitch group she was able to craft this amazing birthday cake. Beach Reset
Going to the beach for a day is a great way to press the reset button on your routine. a beach reset, if you will. With distance and space for reflection, there is room for a shift in perception. When you return, you can see your world with new eyes and new understanding, as your old assumptions fall away. And if you’re ready, there may be change. Usually it takes a long time for an old behavior to die, but when it does we don’t feel a loss because the way has already been paved for a new one. We feel it as a relief. I can’t wait. I like to take…

Stand Up and Paddleboard
Chris and I finally broke away from work life to go down to Matagorda together with the new stand up paddleboard. Since he just started a new job in Port La Vaca, he is down there almost every day. But for me, I am so busy with my job, yoga teacher training, and renovating the house, that it has been a while. The drive never bothers us. It’s only about an hour an a half to the beach, and Chris and I like taking the time to talk about this and that – local histories, photography, side-adventures. The water is almost warm enough to go in without a wetsuit. We…

Yoga Teacher Training Book Reviews
Yoga Teacher Training is well under way, and my book collection is steadily growing. I’m so excited to have finally started yoga teacher training. The majority of our training comes from the Joy Yoga University manual, but these books are my best friends for the five months of yoga teacher training. I have tons of other books on yoga to dig into and share, but these are the core books for me to really focus on for now. I respond well to learning from books. Teaching Yoga: Essential Foundations & Techniques By Mark Stephens Teaching Yoga feels like the primary textbook for our yoga teacher training. There’s a chapter that…

Spring Gardening
One of my favorite things about Spring is planting season. Chris and I just moved into a house, and I’ve been eagerly waiting for the time when we could start our spring gardening. Since I’ve always lived in an apartment, I’ve been a devoted container gardener and this is my first time planting in the ground. Also, my last apartment didn’t get enough light to grow vegetables, so I’m so excited to be able to start growing tomatoes again! It turns out that Chris used to work on an organic farm. Not only does he know all about gardening in the ground, he also really likes to till the earth.…
