Matagorda Surfing + Nothing But Blue Skies

    /

These are a few more waves from Matagorda surfing in July. We were able to go out on the jetties and the beach! I caught a few really long waves, and of course Chris caught every one that came along. The waves were long and powerful, if choppy from an offshore wind. When I first went out, it was hard to keep the board straight. The current was coming from so many different directions. You can kind of see it in all of that white water. But once I caught a wave, it was powerful enough that I didn’t have to worry about that anymore. The water is shallow near…

    Decorating with Photo Prints

    /

I love taking pictures, but rarely take the time to print them! Needing to put something up on our new walls, I recently bought some square photo prints from Artifact Uprising to decorate with. The prints came in looking beautiful, and at 5×5 with a white border they looked clean in a grid up on the wall. The photos I picked to print were from the frequent surf trips with Chris, which we started when we were dating. Seeing our history on the wall brightens my day. It’s so important to me to carry around a camera for this, to remember what happened and what it really looked like. There…

My latest favorite app is Touch Retouch. A lot of the time with iPhone photography, timing is everything. I snap pics when I don’t have my DSLR with me, but also when I don’t have enough time to grab it. When you’re trying to snag the moment, sometimes you just don’t have enough time to properly frame the photo or wait for extra people to move out of the background. Or maybe it’s a crowded day at the beach, or there is a lot of trash on the ground. Touch Retouch works wonders. I seriously can’t believe how well this thing works. Sometimes it even does a better job than…

Hello!

Artist and writer in Houston, painting my way through a slower kind of life. Likely By Sea is where the studio spills into everything else — watercolor and process, slow craft, whole-food cooking, coastal days, and the small style-and-living notes in between. Trained as a fine artist; the rest just follows the same eye.
