I don’t go out in public without at least a little eye makeup on. I’m in a waterproof makeup-needing situation daily. Aside from the swampy Texas humidity and sweltering summers, I’m usually in an aerial gym, hot yoga studio or ocean at least once a day. Chris likes to take pictures at the end of a day of surfing. Having a little bit of makeup on helps keep me from looking too crumbled.
Since cancer runs in my family, I’m also very conscious of only putting five-free products on my face. Sephora is a great resource for this since they have a five-free search filter. Here are the five-free waterproof makeup products that are in my makeup bag right now:
Waterproof Makeup Picks
Kat Von D Trooper Eyeliner
For the last few years or so I was a diehard fan of Urban Decay’s 24/7 black liquid eyeliner. Give me a brush and a waterproof ink pot, and I’m good to go. But last December they stopped selling it online at Sephora, then Ulta, and I shopped around for other options. Kat Von D passes the test as the only waterproof eyeliner that doesn’t clog or fray the sponge tip applicator with time. The run resistant eyeliner stays in place during exercise classes, and does as well as can be expected while being battered by salt waves. After a day of surfing it might be rubbed off a little bit by the eyelash line and fuzzy at the wing, but it won’t be under the eye.
Tarte Lights, Camera, Splashes! Waterproof Mascara Black
This is the only waterproof mascara I’ll wear. It will not leave my eyelashes. After a day of surfing a little bit of it might migrate below the eye, but it’s not too noticeable. You need eye makeup remover to really get this off.
MAKE UP FOR EVER Full Cover Concealer
This is a great little concealer. The tube lasts forever and it’s waterproof. I don’t really have much need for a waterproof concealer, but I found it and it works great.
