3 Things to Do in Times Square

Times Square is visually the loudest, most recognizable corner of New York crammed full of tourists. Times Square may be most well-known as the place to catch the best Broadway shows, do a little shopping, and have a big bite to eat. Here’s a list of my slightly less common top three things to do in Times Square (without spending toooooooo much time there). Listen to the Public Piano. The city currently has a public program where a piano sits in the middle of Times Square. Anyone can sit down and let out a tune. I love being surprised by music from strangers. Spin on a Dreidel Chair. Maybe these…

    Bryant Park Summer Film Festival

All summer long, Bryant Park is showing free vintage movies every Monday night! Deena and I met up with a few of her friends in the city to catch On the Town, which might be the perfect movie for a tourist like me. There’s a catchy song they sing that can be helpful to remember directions around the city. It’s so bad, it’s good. How crazy is it to think how long the modern amenities like subways and skyscrapers of a big city like New York have been around? These things don’t define contemporary life so much. Maybe technology would. In On the Town, three young sailors (including Gene Kelly…

    Flashback Friday: New York 2011

It’s hard to believe this was my first time visiting New York since 2011. As great of a time as I had the last time I visited, I suppose what kept me away is that it’s too expensive or the timing wasn’t right. Since 2011 my life has taken an entirely different direction – I’m now a digital marketer, a yoga instructor, and live this weird commuter active lifestyle. Back then I was working in the contemporary arts, still pursuing art with a studio practice that did ok. In 2011 I spent five days exploring all of the different neighborhoods and art museums. A lot has changed, but some of…

View from the Window Seat: New York Flights

Bon Voyage! I recently flew to New York for an affiliate marketing conference. Since my best friend from college Deena lives there, I headed up a few days ahead of the conference to catch up and spend time in Manhattan together. As always, when I travel I like to share a few flight tips like I recently did for my Costa Rica flight. OMW New York: New York Flights What’s the best way to travel to New York? Fly in to LaGuardia or Newark – they’re pretty much the same distance from the city. The airport in Newark is a little nicer than LaGuardia and has more places to eat…

    Father’s Day Gift Guide

Every Father’s Day, it’s good to take the time to pick out the perfect wishlist of gifts for dad. I’m definitely what you would call a Daddy’s Girl. He hung the moon. My father and I have exactly the same personality type, and I can relate to him more than anyone else. He’s a very interesting man who has traveled all over the world. The things he must have seen! Since he traveled so much, he wasn’t around very often when my sister Michele and I were young girls, but maybe that is a good thing. My father may not have been so ready for young children when we arrived.…
