Everywhere I travel lately, I make a little ritual to pick up one piece of local jewelry as a souvenir for several reasons. For one, I love supporting local artists and bringing back a bit of local aesthetic to cherish. Also, a little decor is great but many souvenirs can be too bulky or tchotchky and clutter up the home.
