Best Wellness Podcasts

best wellness podcasts 2017

Wellness can cover so many different aspects of your life. When I set out to make this wellness podcast list, I first had to define what I meant by wellness. For me, it’s all about balance and positivity. Healthy living includes fitness, eating well, and caring for your head space, but it also includes finding a good work-life balance and staying motivated to do your best work. So the following are the best wellness podcasts I tune into while I sit in traffic and prepare for the next part of my day

That’s So Retrograde

That’s So Retrograde came highly recommended to me, and there’s a reason why it tops the list! It took a while for me to turn it on, but once I did I was totally hooked. Two lady comedians, Elizabeth Kott and Stephanie Simbari, explore the latest wellness topics with special guests and hilarious banter. Start with the vision board episode! It’s all about how to listen to your intuition and manifest the life you actually want. I love it.

The Lively Show

When I first listened to Jess Lively, I heard her as a guest on the Goal Digger podcast. She seemed totally weird and out there and I was like, right on. Jess Lively started out blogging about interior design, but now she’s a world traveler focused on living with intention, in flow, and alignment. Our best work comes from a place of alignment. I can’t argue with that. How each person gets there will be unique. The jump from interior spaces to world traveler may seem big, but the purpose of a good portion of her interior design content was about living well in your space. So it actually ties together pretty well and I enjoy the original content too.

My Favorite Murder

Ok, maybe a comedy podcast about murder isn’t what you’d expect to see on a wellness podcast list. Georgia Hardstark and Karen Kilgariff are super inspiring, though. Before and after the murder story part of the podcast, they each talk about what’s going on in their lives and deliver super uplifting stories that will make you feel motivated and connected to the sister tribe of women in the MFM community who are all doing super badass things and making their dreams happen.

The Goal Digger Podcast

What motivational podcast list would be complete without Jenna Kutcher’s Goal Digger podcast? Jenna Kutcher is a wedding photographer with an educational program for similar small business entrepreneurs. This girl works so hard producing amazing content for her podcast and her blog, which I also recommend reading. It’s a good go-to any time you’re looking for inspiration to keep moving forward and refining your product. Also, she has interviewed some pretty awesome people on her podcast, so it’s also a great place to find new people to listen to.

The Balanced Blonde

The Balanced Blonde is another newbie to the podcast space. TBB content is really on the money with what I am looking for in a wellness & inspirational podcast. She’s a yoga teacher (yay!) who is pretty early in her journey as a yoga teacher (but a little farther along than I am), so she’s at a point where she’s producing this awesome fresh content about wellness and entrepreneurship that I love to listen to. Interesting interview guests abound.

The Coffee Commute

The Coffee Commute is the new kid on the podcast block. This small business and creative entrepreneur podcast was recently started by Natalie Franke and Davey Jones, founders of the Rising Tide Society. If you’re not familiar with RTS, go join their Facebook Group right now. You may even have a local chapter near you that can connect you with like-minded people looking to grow their projects together. With an attitude of community over competition, a rising tide floats all boats. I recently had the privilege to hear Natalie Franke share her story in person at Thrive creative conference in the Woodlands, and this photographer does everything wholeheartedly and is so committed to nurturing this amazing place for people to grow together.

The Marie Forleo Podcast

Marie Forleo’s podcast is the audio version of the popular Marie Forleo YouTube channel, which covers motivational topics for entrepreneurs. Marie’s story took her from the stock market floor to dance and fitness to life coaching. Most of her content shares the lessons from this personal experience and working with others. It all feeds into her B School program, which is an incubator for startups. How badly do I want to do Marie Forleo’s B School? I Have no words. She has such a magnetic personality and has built this amazing community of passionate go-getters with it. Catch the community in the comments – there’s so much great info there.

Side Hustle School

Side Hustle School keeps it short and sweet. Every week, there’s a new 10-minute podcast for me to listen to on the way to work, sharing another story of an entrepreneur running a successful, efficient side project. If only my drive to work were this short and sweet. This podcast is all about the side hustle – it’s in the title, see, that’s how you know – with the idea that multiple streams of income bring the most stability. Have you heard the saying about the eggs and the basket? Side Hustle School encourages you to keep your regular steady job and have side projects working for you to bring in some passive income.

Creative Empire Podcast

The Creative Empire Podcast is another gem for solopreneurs and small business owners. Each episode explores how to take next steps in your business, whether you’re freshly starting out or have some experience under your belt. The hosts, Reina Pomeroy and Christina Scalera, interview a variety of entrepreneurs. You’ll love this podcast for sparking ideas in your head about what could be the next steps for your independent projects. On a side note, I recently heard Christina Scalera present on creative law at Thrive conference, and she really knows her stuff! She’s an experienced attorney who shares valuable info about working with all types of creatives.

There you have it! I know this is a pretty long list of podcasts, but did I mention that I have a super long drive? Many listening hours. A few other podcast favorites and podcasts on my “to listen” list include: Katie Dalebout’s Wellness Wonderland, Elizabeth Gilbert’s Magic Lessons, Dear Sugar Radio, Good Life Project, School of Greatness, Being Boss, and Invisible Office Hours.
