DIY Double Wrap Leather Beaded Bracelet

    /

A double wrap leather beaded bracelet uses a technique called “laddering”, where beads are threaded between leather cord, like a ladder. These bracelets were popularized in the nineties with Chan Luu’s double wrap pearl bracelets. The lustrous sheen of a pearl does complement the sleekness of leather well, but I love the way these bracelets look with organic gemstones, sparkle beads, or a creative mix of whatever strikes your fancy. These wrap bracelets look relatively easy to make, and they are, but they do require a bit of a time investment if it’s your first time making them. It’s a perfect project for sitting on the beach or outside on a…

DIY Rainbow Fishtail Braid Macrame Friendship Bracelet

    /

Friendship Bracelets are the hallmark of my childhood. They always remind me of summer camp, days at the lake, and making giggling crafts together with friends. It’s never too late to stop making these! A friendship bracelet makes a great gift with a personal touch, or you can just make one for yourself because it looks cool. This design features a rainbow fishtail braid. You may have put a fishtail braid in your hair before. This is a similar concept, with some slightly more intricate knots and a little more organization. The fishtail braid is much easier and faster than the macrame knot bracelets I grew up with. This project should only take…

    Outlander Floral Nail Art Tutorial

    /

This floral nail tutorial originally started as a basic geometric minimal ombre manicure with squoval tips. But then I started watching Outlander while I did them. If you haven’t seen Outlander yet, you must. I couldn’t stop. I had heard from several friends that the Outlander book series is amazing, but the premise didn’t intrigue me much so I hadn’t picked it up. Outlander is a time-travel romance… See what I mean? They already lost me. In the 1940s, a woman named Claire and her husband are reunited following the end of World War II and go on their second honeymoon to a remote town in Scotland, where Claire is transported to the 1840s…

Hello!

Artist and writer in Houston, painting my way through a slower kind of life. Likely By Sea is where the studio spills into everything else — watercolor and process, slow craft, whole-food cooking, coastal days, and the small style-and-living notes in between. Trained as a fine artist; the rest just follows the same eye.
