Does anyone else find themselves drawn to rust tones this Spring? I recently saw this shibori dress in rust instead of navy, and the warm colors drew me right in. It’s funny because I’ve been doing all this research over the past few years about hand dye and natural dye techniques, and for the past two years the traditional navy shibori struck a chord with me over the rust tones. This year that’s shifting! I love the way the subtle fabric looks against the sand and first signs of Spring. Since the rust shibori dress has this pretty lattice-work in the back, I layered it over a nude cami dress, even though both dresses are lined. This made it super easy to transition from regular person out in the world to beach day person. “Winter” just left us, but the weather is already in the 80s on the Texas coast! Both dresses are breezy and loose, perfect for warding off the heat or throwing on over a bikini before or after you get out of the water.
I usually carry some kind of a beach scarf for keeping off the chill or sitting on the sand depending on the weather. Both of my scarves have fringe, but the lighter one has this super cute crochet trim with a little bit of a vintage pom vibe to it. I love anything that’s a modern update to a vintage classic like this.
My brighter scarf is this awesome sarong that I bought on a trip. It’s great for traveling with if you have to make a little hike from the car to the shoreline with your board. I’ll leave the towel in the car, and just criss-cross it in the front and tie it behind my neck to make a little halter dress cover-up. Once you get out, it makes a great blanket, towel, or cover when there’s too much sun.
