A light blue lace dress in March is the perfect Spring dress. When the flowers start blooming in Spring, flower patterns inevitably start showing up on my clothes again. Print or texture. A have a passion for flowered dresses, and pretty feminine things. I bought this dress for Easter Sunday, even though I didn’t really need it.
It’s lovely that lace is back in style after being pushed to the back of my closet for the past 6 years or so. Lace represents the feminine, the fragile, and the transient. And this particular lace pattern is almost humble to me, showing a daisy like print, or some very ordinary flower that grows in the wild. The flowers are layering in a geometric pattern reminescent of chunkier retro crochets.
This light blue color (you could even call it Serenity) recalls baby’s breath, a pale shade of masculine youth, the cool air of March, and the pastel flowers beginning to bloom.
The waistline shows hints of skin in a lattice cutout embroidery. I love this use of the season’s cutout trend in a way that is not too revealing, and references the accessory of a belt. It’s like the inversion of a belt.
The same goes for the demure restraint of the midi length. So many dresses are too short to wear out without being gawked at.
Bonus points: this dress has pockets, a sweetheart neckline, and adjustable straps.
For Easter, I’m pairing this with nude heels, and a neutral blush clutch. After the fuss of Easter has settled down a bit (and the family photos have been taken), I’ll change into gold D’Orsay flats so I can play with my niece. She likes to hide the eggs and find them.
