Dream a Little Dreamy Summer Dress

Do you ever put on one of those dresses that makes you feel like… a better woman? This midi-length summer dress from Anthropologie is my dreamy summer dress come true. It’s so flowy and ethereal, that one of my friends suggested someone follow me around with a fan for effect all day. Although, nature takes care of that.

The lightweight fabric and light tan color perfectly forgives the melting summer heat of Texas. The weather changed from soggy flooding to wilting heat so quickly this year! I love the way the graphic stripes on the side of the dress contrasts with the Grecian draping effect from the ruches on the neckline. It not only keeps the dress from bulking up top, but also makes the look more modern. You don’t have to look like a full-on goddess all of the time, although this dress will make you feel like one.

I paired it with these beige lace-up gladiator sandals. Ha, because maybe sometimes you should feel like a Grecian goddess all of the time and ’tis the season for lace-up sandals. A tan fringe crossbody purse packs away essentials for a day trip. What more do you need, really?

The turquoise jewelry is by me! Check out this DIY turquoise jewelry post, and make your own. Or, pick up a double bar necklace at Bauble Bar.

A light breeze is your best accessory. Just ask Marilyn.

Doesn’t this look like the most beautiful forest? Some light can only be described as “dappled”. Marked with spots or bright patches.

We saw a dragonfly! I love dragonflies – they’re so curious and graceful, and their eyes are so much bigger than their faces. Dragonflies always remind me of when I was younger and we lived on a lake. We would take the canoe out and doc it at these little platforms, and sit there with the dragonflies flitting back and forth. Chris always calls dragonflies “alien overlords”. I have no idea why, but it’s funny. Especially because now that I’m used to hearing him call them that, I call them that too when we are together. It must be quite the conversation to hear.

On the road… a dress like this is great for traveling. You know that I’m all about functional fashion. This summer dress is soft, breezy, keeps the heat off, and the midi length is so low maintenance. It’s long enough that you could even curl up cross-legged in your seat while you are chauffeured around town. I mean, while your boyfriend drives because he’s the one with the 4×4 and you are going to drive on beach sand. 😉
