DIY Pumpkin Centerpiece for Thanksgiving

diy thanskgiving pumpkin centerpiece

A unique centerpiece vase is easier to make than you may think and this one looks so great for Thanksgiving. The fall wildflowers in season right now have so many lovely autumn colors that really stand out when highlighted in a fall pumpkin shape. I just love how this diy pumpkin centerpiece turned out!

DIY Pumpkin Centerpiece Materials

1 Pumpkin (duh)
1 Cylindrical Vase
1 Fall Wildflower Bouquet
1 Xacto Knife or Fine-Point Sharpie
1 Paring Knife
1 Paintbrush
White Paint

DIY Pumpkin Centerpiece Directions

First, pick a nice round pumpkin. I chose an orange one, but a Cinderella pumpkin in a lovely pastel shade would also look great. Also pick a nice cylindrical vase. If it’s wider in the middle than in the top, you may have some trouble measuring it properly. Also, remember that pumpkins are really thick at the bottom. Aim for a vase that’s at least 3 inches shorter than the pumpkin.

To cut the vase hole, if it’s in the way carve out the pumpkin stem to better measure the vase shape on top. Take a cylindrical vase and turn it upside down on top of the pumpkin. Use a fine point sharpie or Xacto knife to outline the vase where you want the hole to be. Carefully carve out the vase shape with the paring knife. Clean the inside of the pumpkin (ew). Paint the pumpkin with two coats of white paint. Drop the vase inside it, and fill it with water. Arrange the fall wildflowers to your liking.

Ta-Da! That’s it! Enjoy your centerpiece 🙂
