DIY Chakra Bracelets

These chakra bracelets were made as a graduation gift to the other yogis in my teacher training. We made it! We are all officially yoga teachers now. I’ve been really into making beaded power bracelets lately, and get so many compliments, so I thought it would be fun to share with my friends! Since we’ve been learning all about the chakras together during yoga teacher training, this seemed like the perfect theme.

Chakra Bracelet Directions

This bracelet measures 7 inches, which is pretty standard for a girl’s bracelet. While making these bracelets, I came up with about four different design combinations with 23 beads total on each bracelet. There was also one man’s bracelet in the bunch at the standard man’s bracelet size, which is 8 inches. To make a longer bracelet, add more sandalwood beads.

To make the bracelet, thread 16 sandalwood beads on the stretchy thread, followed by each bead in order of the chakras. This happens to look like a rainbow. Add the spacer bead last. The spacer bead will hide the knot that you are about to tie with the stretchy thread.

Tie the thread off with a surgeon’s knot. To tie a surgeon’s knot, start by looping the two ends over one another the same way that you would to start a regular square knot. The surgeon part is at the second loop. Start the second loop set, and wrap the ends around each other twice before pulling taught.

Once the knot is tied, seal it closed with jewelry glue or clear nail polish. Then, cut the extra thread off. With jewelry pliers, drop the “Made with Love” charm on a jump ring, and loop it between two beads on the bracelet.

This power bracelet project is so simple, and anyone can make it. It’s fun to experiment with different combinations, too! I laid these same beads out in different combinations to make several different designs, and still haven’t really decided which one I like best. Chakra bracelets are about balance, so any design that emphasizes symmetry and order will be good.

I’ve made many of these power bracelets this Spring, just because it’s fun and they’re great for layering. Some of the other gemstones I’ve used include bloodstone (an alternative Aries birthstone), obsidian, rose quartz, tiger’s eye, lava, and white magnalite. Enjoy!
